Validation rules
cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1 — EN 16931 rule
A value does not match its datatype's lexical rules — e.g. a date written as 15.06.2026 instead of 2026-06-15, a decimal with a comma, or broken base64 content.

cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1— official EN 16931 / XRechnung rule- Severity
- error
- Detected by
- tier 2 — XML schema (XSD)
- Reachability
- Only reachable when validating your own XML — normbill-generated documents cannot trigger it
normbill's serializer emits schema-valid XML by construction; this can only fire for XML submitted to /v1/invoices/validate.
How to fix it
Format the value as the XSD datatype requires: dates as YYYY-MM-DD, decimals with a dot and no thousands separators, base64 without line-break artifacts.
